Did you know that in New Hampshire there are still no state laws that explicitly prohibit discrimination against transgender people?
Even though New Hampshire has a statewide non-discrimination law that protects people from unfair treatment on the basis of race, gender, religious beliefs, disability status, and sexual orientation (among other classes), there are no protections on the basis of gender identity.
In 2017, Freedom New Hampshire—the diverse and nonpartisan coalition for transgender non-discrimination—helped mobilize a powerful movement in support of #TransBillNH, legislation that would update NH state laws to protect transgender people from unfair treatment.
And even though #TransBillNH didn't pass, it advanced to the House with overwhelming bipartisan committee support by a 15-2 vote.
Now, we're back, and fighting to pass this bill in 2018. Will you join the cause?
